BIO
Los Angeles-based multidisciplinary artist and architect Stephanie Wang has been integrating her practice and medium exploration for over 15 years. She continuously seeks to synthesize abstractions derived from the contrast and tension in which different elements coexist within her design, painting, and sculpture. Her work is driven by recording and examining the emotional connections that transport us, provoked by the sensory memory embedded in the materials.
She was born and raised in Quito, Ecuador, to Taiwanese and Colombian parents. Her multiethnic identity and cultural roots have profoundly influenced her work and mission to make art and education inclusive, accessible, and equitable. She earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from California State Polytechnique Pomona and a teaching artist certification at Otis College of Art and Design. She is pursuing her Master’s in Studio Practice from Teacher’s College at Columbia University.
